Witney Physiotherapy Centre
Sarah Showan MSc, MCSP
Sarah joined Witney Physiotherapy Centre in January 2007. She qualified as a
physiotherapist in 1993 graduating with a BSc (Honours) from Kings College
London. After working in the NHS for three years she then completed a
Masters Degree in neuromuscular physiotherapy at University College London
where she gained distinctions in all clinical and three academic modules.
Completion of her masters gave her membership to the Manipulative
Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).She has since worked in
private practice.

Sarah and her husband and family have lived in Witney since
2005. She has two grown-up daughters. She is passionate about Pilates and
has been a trained mat-work instructor for over 20 years and teaches
classes locally. She includes Pilates rehabilitation in her treatments as
often as is appropriate.
Sarah enjoys the variety that is her musculoskeletal caseload and follows an
evidence based approach as much as possible.
She has a special interest in hip, pelvic and lower back pain.
In an ever changing medical world she enjoys the challenge that those
changes bring but keeps up-to-date with regular continuing professional
development.
Her treatments involve a combination of manual therapy, exercise
rehabilitation and advice.
She finds the most fulfilling part of her work to be the teaching,
empowering patients with the knowledge they need to help themselves. This
might include postural or ergonomic education, lifestyle changes, home
exercise instruction and advice on preventing injury recurrence.
The physical side of her work means she needs to keep herself fit which
fortunately she enjoys and regularly plays golf, runs and does Pilates and
yoga.
